BJJUnderdog.com is the brain child of Sheri Hockman.  This 38 years old mother of three has been training the better part of 8 years in Jiu-Jitsu and has seen many ups and downs.  She has created this blog to help and inspire those of us who consider themselves to be underdogs in the art.  Who is an Underdog?  Anyone and everyone that can honestly say that they have areas that they can improve on.  Check it out!

Thanks to all the members of the 3rd Generation Jiu-Jitsu Team that traveled out for our very first Christmas Eve open mat.  With over 30 people in attendance, training hard for over an hour and a half taking little if no breaks.

During the open mat, we took the chance to promote some well deserving individuals.

Are you sick of the rampaging masses at the malls on Black Friday? Are you sick of the idea of spending more “quality time” with the family? Does it feel like you put on 20 pounds overnight because of gluttonous eating? Then come on down for the 2nd Annual ALL DAY AFTER TURKEY DAY ROLL!!!

By ALL DAY, we mean ALL DAY. Come in when you want, leave when you want. You can even come in, roll, leave, and come back again later. Those of you brave (or crazy) enough can stay ALL DAY. You can grab meals at the nearby eateries, recover, and train some more. That’s what a few of us plan on doing. Why? Because we have no lives…Errr…I mean, because we LOVE Jiu-Jitsu. Yeah, that’s it.

So, come on down and roll. Roll until your heart’s content or it actually gives out. Whichever one comes first. Be there or be square. Just like the pegs that some of you keep trying to put into the round holes.

It’s time again for another installment of technique week.  For the first week of each month we take one position, one submission and work it till we’ve got it down.  For October in consideration of the Halloween Season we’ll be working on Choke Holds.  Brabo Chokes, D’Arce Choke, Guillotine’s, RNC’s, Triangle Chokes, Loop Chokes, you name it, we’ll be teaching it.
